Designers are pissed and so is a good majority of her fan base. One thing that isn’t respected in the fashion world is stolen designs or a stolen aesthetic. They won’t even allow you to put yourself in the position of the greats. A lot of hard working designers are indirectly saying that they are mad and jealous because her brand is getting a lot of attention based off her popularity NOT her talents. What she dropped is trash, why? Because Kim already did it. It’s just Skims with a heart on it.

In the fashion world we know what has longevity and what doesn’t. We’re talking the Ralph Laurens, the Pyer Moss’s, the LaQuan Smith’s, and Virgil Abloh’s of this world. Timeless fashion will live long after we are gone. That is the beauty of vintage work. Everybody wants their work to one day be “vintage”. There is no longevity in lacking originality, and sadly she has already lost her shot to making her mark on these people. Anna Wintour would probably fire her assistant if they uttered to feature that brand in Vogue. Her first official designs were already seen before, taken by someone else who has worked really hard to get where she’s at. Before you say it, yes, fashion repeats itself, but not in the same era.
Her customers are confused as to what she’s trying to communicate with them, why was THIS such a secret? “Why’d you make us wait this long for something that doesn’t even look like the clothes you wear?” Anyone who follows her knows she doesn’t wear many basics. You would have thought she took notes from all the designer she wears. With the money she makes she had the budget of any upcoming designers dreams! And she fumbled it. Jayda Cheaves did not off Plus Size, Affordable Clothing, or World Wide Shipping. How sway? How’d you take a year to launch a brand that wasn’t fully ready to serve your LARGE audience? Wholesale is different, it’s not realistic to serve everyone because vendors don’t always sell petite or plus size clothing. All that I am saying is, when you design from scratch, when you have a big enough budget- you take it as far as you can take it! From XXS-5X; or at-least I would. A lot of other great designers would have to.

Jayda isn’t a designer. She’s an influencer who likes to get dressed up and now wants to monetize off it. I want Fashion Designers to stop thinking they have to tone down their designs because basics are now what sells. Everyone see’s Kim & Kanye and feels like that’s what it takes. Take your power back, and I mean now. Show these people how to appreciate the arts and fine detail. Do we really have to spend our days in basic clothing all the time? That’s not boring to you?
